Young swimmers looking to build confidence and gain valuable skills in open water will have the chance to earn a nationally recognised Swim England qualification this August — right here at Whitmore Lakes.
The new Open Water Swimming Certificate programme will run every Wednesday morning throughout August, offering a mix of theory and practical learning in a safe, supportive environment. The sessions are aimed at swimmers aged 8 and up, with Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications running on alternate weeks.
Each session will last two hours and cover everything from open water safety and sighting techniques to pacing, entry and exit skills — all under the guidance of qualified, experienced instructors.
“This is a brilliant opportunity for young swimmers who want to take their skills to the next level,” said Ian Cartwright, Founder of Kuotos Swim and programme lead. “Whether they’re training for events, enjoying open water for fun, or working toward future lifeguarding or triathlon goals, this certificate is a great step.”
Confidence, Skills & Recognition
Swimmers must be able to swim 200 metres using front crawl or breaststroke confidently in order to take part. Wetsuits are optional but not provided, so participants should come prepared for the water.
The programme is ideal for both recreational and competitive swimmers who want to develop their open water technique and earn a Swim England accredited certificate in the process.
