In at the Deep End

The first question I always get asked is where did the name come from, well its off the back of a conversation with good friend Ed who simply said some catch name is much better than using your name.

So the name Kuotos was born from Kuot from Kuota, my bike brand and os from Zantos - my favourite ever windsurf board - and Kuotos was born.

For a few years Ben Gamble of Ben Gamble Therapy, https://www.facebook.com/Ben-Gamble-Therapy, had been talking to me about using his endless pool for coaching and it is from the demise of one comes the rise of the other. The sad closure of Parogon led me to be looking for ways that I could continue in swimming, with the opening to use this pool and the option to use Trentham with Helen and the wheels were put in motion.

A short stint working for a company at a hotel led me to think, I can do this for myself and I started to fire out some emails to pools and Tom at The Stone House Hotel was receptive and the relationship was born.

Endless Pool sessions at Ben's and lessons and technique sessions at Stone and Trentham. This is alongside working with Dave at NULS running the out of hours swim school.

So something had to give, I was working all the hours alongside attempting to train, see the family, hold down the day job and build a company. A few meetings later, long discussions at home, trepidation, excitement and a passion for the sport led to only one decision being taken, hence the title - In at the Deep End.

Tuesday 24th June after 14 years - I handed my notice in at school and from September I will be fully self employed running what will be know as Kuotos Swim Limited, delivering exclusive 1 - 1 swimming lessons and coaching from our venues in Stone.

I am excited for the future, there are new qualifications on the way, Aquaphobia coach, baby & toddler teaching and then who knows where this may go.

But for now I am happy to be doing what makes me happy.....
