Making the Call....

This week I have completed my Certificate in Aquaphopia and it has been a very interesting course and opened my eyes to another side of teaching practice.

It looks at the fear curve and putting into practice the learning pathway to desensitise the fear and enable pupils of all ages to feel comfortable in the water. This is something I am already putting into practice with 3 very brave ladies.

As the title says, making the call is the hardest part, getting in contact and admitting that you need assistance to swim, feel happy in the water or just be able to enjoy the holiday with the kids.

One client who has had two sessions with me so far, broke down in the bar when we were talking about swimming, bad experiences had led her to have a fear of deep water, getting her face wet and being in the pool. Half an our later she was doing 12m on her back unaided, lesson two, face in on her front streamlined kick. She has even taken the kids to the pool at the weekend. Absolutely inspirational.....

Another client has been coming to me for a while, could not swim a stroke and would not even consider putting her face anywhere near the water. She is hard on herself, but her progress is fantastic, she is swimming 15m front crawl, 20m on her back legs only and this week she was jumping in off the side and fully submerging in 2m of water.

The third client is at the very start of her journey and is showing great determination and was not at all phased by blowing bubbles. What I had to remember was that we have to teach them to stand from prone, something that comes naturally to us. The stand out moment in her first lesson was when she was lying back on a noodle, floating she simply said - "this feels fantastic".

These moments have been the standouts for me so far in my Kuotos Swim journey, we all teach children and see them progress, but helping these brave ladies is inspirational, emotional and so rewarding.

So what is stopping you, give me a call, message or WhatsApp and let me guide you on your swimming journey.
